The Leibniz Institute for Age Research - Fritz Lipmann Institute (FLI)
in Jena, Germany invites applications for:

PhD positions (code number 2609)

to work in projects of the 3 year research program LeibnizAgeNet:
Signalling Pathways in Diseases of Ageing. All projects will employ
genome-scale loss-of-function analysis in cultured cells, following
RNA interference. The positions are part of the Leibniz Graduate
School on Ageing and Age-Related Diseases (LGSA)

Experience with one or more of the following would be advantageous:
high-throughput and RNAi techniques, HCS microscopy functional assays,
automated liquid handling systems, bioinformatics analysis, database
handling. Fluency in spoken and written english plus very good working
knowledge of standard computer operating systems and software are
essential.

Starting date is January 2010. The contract conditions and the salary
will be according to the collective labour agreement for public
service employees of the federal states of Germany (TV-L E13 /2).

The objective of INTED2010 is to share your experiences in the fields of
Technology, Education, Development and International Collaboration.

This is an annual International Forum for lecturers, researchers, professors,
educational scientists and technologists who wish to present their projects
and results in all disciplines and fields of Education. This 4th annual
edition expects to count with the attendance of more than 450 delegates from
65 different countries.

You can present your projects in two modalities: In person (oral and poster
presentations) and virtually (if you can not attend in person).
Two ISBN publications (INTED2010 Abstracts CD and INTED2010 Proceedings CD)
will be produced with all accepted abstracts and papers that will serve as a
database of innovation projects in Education and Technology.

The Interdisciplinary Research Training 4th Edition!

The beneficiaries of this training will be 24 students in the 1st and 2nd year from different universities in Cluj-Napoca. They will be working in teams in a competitive environment for 7 weeks between 21.10.2009 and 13.12.2009. Every week 3 participants will leave the competition, and in the end there will be 3 winners, which will get a certificate proving their participation and a 3 month fellowship with the Center For Health Policy and Public Health. In addition, at the end of the workshop, all the students will acquire basic knowledge regarding research, information about the perspectives research and the possibilities of a career in research.

Moreover, during workshops, trainings and sessions of lecture, there will be specialists in communication addressing speeches (live or online), which include the basic themes for the participants research projects.

Applicants must send an e-mail that includes a motivation letter and a CV at I4R@healthpolicy.ro until 17.10.2009, (23:59).

On the 19th of October the applicants selected will be interviewed, and two days later on the 21st of October the 24 paricipants will be announced via email.

I4R is promoting an interdisciplinary approach in research. The purpose of this year’s training is the creation of a functional network of students from different areas of interest and also aiming to offer young students the opportunity to test their abilities in the field of research.
